Drums, Duran and Bongo Bob....

For those of you who remember Bob Sicotte ('76) as the 'drum guy' through the 70's and 80's in and around these parts....this next story should bring you a very cool vibe.

Back in the early 70's Bob worked at Moy's Restaurant as a dishwasher for two years. This allowed him to take the money he saved and buy his first professional drum kit. That drum set took him through three years of Bentley Stage Band...the band SAGA...a short stint with 'Moose and da Sharks'...and finally, two years into the Dittilies. He hated to part with his first set- but selling them would help pay for his next professional set. He couldn't remember who he sold them to in 1979...he just knew the kid was a Bentley grad.

Bob visits this 1979 website every week....and one day on the front page was a picture of Major Woody's new Drummer- Duran Grisa ('78). Bob was quite surprised to see a set of drums that looked like his first set....and he had to know! Bob contacted one of his Bentley friends who put him in contact with Duran. Sure enough Duran told him...'I bought your set from you back in 1979'...and have been banging on them ever since. To Bob it was like looking at the first muscle car you bought as a young man- and seeing it thirty years later in the hands of who you sold it to....in mint condition!
